the path of
LETTING GO

THE LETTING GO PATH

The Letting go path is a profound and transformative act of releasing attachments, emotions, or situations that no longer serve one's well-being or personal growth. It involves relinquishing the grip of the past, unburdening oneself from negative influences, and embracing the freedom that comes with surrender.

At its core, letting go is about accepting impermanence. It acknowledges that change is an inherent part of life and that clinging to the past or fixating on the future can hinder personal progress. Letting go does not mean forgetting or denying the significance of experiences; instead, it entails making peace with them and allowing space for new possibilities.

Letting go requires self-awareness and emotional courage. It often involves forgiveness, both for others and oneself, and may entail confronting painful emotions head-on. It is a process of healing and self-liberation.

Ultimately, letting go empowers individuals to live in the present moment, unburdened by regrets or anxieties. It fosters resilience, inner peace, and a sense of renewal.

Despite it seeming like a weak position, it takes real strength to surrender to the flow of life. Some things can be changed in life and to those things, you can take action, however, some things cannot be changed. Allow these moments to provide real benefits on all three of the pillars of health, mind, body and spirit.

The mind is one of the only things you can control in life. Create a positive mental space and the only way it can be affected is if you let it. Situations, people, and events will stir your mind of its peace, but to what degree is up to you. Take offence to people, let their comments bother you, and resist life when it doesn't go your way and the only one who suffers is you.

Time doesn't heal. What's healing is your level of acceptance of what is. At first, you suffer the most because you resist the most. As time passes you resist less and accept more, thus 'healing' you. The quicker you accept and surrender, the less you suffer.

SUFFERING IS A CHOICE

The act of surrender and letting go of things you cannot change allows a state of mind of pure equanimity. Become aware of your state of mind during the day, what triggers you? When does your state of mind become lost in anger, jealousy, and fear? or whatever the emotion may be.

Awareness is the first step to regaining control. Things will go your way and things won't go your way. To both, allow your mind to remain unaffected and still. You will find a state of peace no matter what happens in life. It's as easy as it sounds although as difficult as you make it. Your suffering will last as long as it takes you to accept and surrender to what is.

Surrender creates no resistance to what is and therefore creates no suffering. The pain we'll inevitably experience is part of life and the catalyst for much of our growth but suffering is a choice. Why would we choose to suffer if you don't have to?

Your state of mind is precious. Don't give it away for people and situations to manipulate it at their own will.

FLOW WITH LIFE

Beginning the process of letting go and surrendering to the flow of life is a profound journey that can transform your existence. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to initiate this transformative practice and walk the letting go path:

Self-Awareness

Commence by becoming aware of what you're holding onto. Identify the attachments, fears, and expectations that are causing resistance in your life. Self-reflection and journaling can aid in this process. Healing the shadow can also be of huge influence.

Acceptance

Embrace the idea that change is a natural part of life. Accept that some things are beyond your control, and resisting them only leads to suffering. Acceptance is the first step toward surrender.

Mindfulness

Cultivate mindfulness to remain present in the moment. When you're fully aware of the here and now, you're less likely to dwell on the past or worry about the future. Mindfulness can help you detach from thoughts and emotions.

Practice Non-Attachment

Start practising non-attachment to outcomes. Instead of clinging to specific results or expectations, focus on the process and the effort you put in. This allows you to release the need for things to turn out a certain way.

Letting Go of Control

Understand that trying to control every aspect of your life is futile. Let go of the need to micromanage and trust that the universe has its own way of unfolding.

Embrace Change

Change is inevitable. Embrace it as an opportunity for growth and learning rather than as a threat. Cultivate a flexible mindset that can adapt to life's fluctuations.

Gratitude

Cultivate a daily practice of gratitude. When you appreciate the present moment and the blessings in your life, it's easier to let go of negative emotions and attachments.

Forgiveness

Forgive yourself and others. Holding onto grudges and past grievances only adds to your burden. Forgiveness allows you to release these heavy emotions and find peace.

Meditation and Breathwork

Incorporate meditation and breathwork into your daily routine. These practices can help you stay centred, reduce stress, and connect with your inner self, making it easier to surrender to the flow of life.

Seek Guidance

Consider seeking guidance from God through prayer or through spiritual teachers, therapists, or mentors who have experience in letting go and surrendering. They can provide insights and support on your journey.

Patience

Understand that surrendering is an ongoing process. Be patient with yourself as you navigate this path. There will be times when you regress, and that's okay. Each step is a part of your growth.

Trust

Develop trust in yourself and the universe. Trust that life has a way of working out for the best, even if it doesn't align with your initial plans.

Initiating the journey of letting go and surrendering to the flow of life is an act of empowerment. It allows you to release the burdens of the past, reduce anxiety about the future, and find peace in the present moment.
